Developer relaunches $400M Colman Yards project with Rockford-area contractor
Rockford’s historic Barber-Colman complex is getting a new lease on life. J. Jeffers & Co. has teamed up with local contractor Ringland-Johnson Construction to relaunch the Colman Yards projects, with Phase 1B set to bring around 150 residential units and more than 70,000 square feet of commercial space to five of the site’s storied buildings. Backed by the city and totaling $400 million in investment, the project is being hailed as a transformational moment for Rockford’s west side and a chance to breathe new life into a cornerstone of the city’s industrial heritage.
